About the Festival

What is the cost of attending the festival?

There is no cost associated with attending the festival. It is free of charge.

Where is the festival taking place?

The festival is fully online. All you need is a computer, tablet or phone that can connect to the internet.

Do I need to travel anywhere to enjoy the festival?

You can enjoy the festival from the comfort of your home, workplace or school.

How many countries and continents are represented at the festival?

There are people from over 70 countries who will be connecting to attend the festival. This is a gathering of Africans and lovers of Africa from across the globe.

Can I attend the festival without pre-registering?

We ask you to register your details on our site so that you can receive regular important updates about the festival as and when they happen.

About the Sessions

Can I access the recordings of the sessions?

The recordings of the sessions will be available on our website after the festival has concluded. 

For how long after the festival will the session recordings be available?

The recordings of the sessions will be available on our website for 2 weeks after the festival has concluded. 

Will there be live interpretation during the sessions?

There will be live interpretation during the following sessions:

  1. French and English interpretation during the 15h00 GMT sessions.
  2. Portuguese, French and English interpretation during the Youth First Festival Opening Ceremony, taking place on 15 September at 12h00 GMT.
  3. Ga and English interpretation during the Market Queens: Transnational Traders session taking place on 21 September 09h30 GMT.

Is there a cap on the number of sessions I can attend in a day?

You can attend as many sessions as you like during the Festival. As in physical instance, you are not able to attend more than one session at a time.

Will there be opportunities to interact with the speakers/panelists/performers?

There will be a QA and chat function during each session. When engaging with participants, you are required to do so respectfully.

Will the sessions be streamed onto social media?

Sessions will not be streamed onto social media.

How many people will be allowed into a session?

There is a capacity of 500 per session.

What happens when there is no more space available in a session?

In the event that a session has reached its capacity, there will be a live stream created to the Kwame Nkrumah Festival Vimeo channel which you can watch on https://vimeo.com/channels/kwamenkrumahfest

I am based in Ghana. Can I come to the University of Ghana campus to watch the festival?

The University of Ghana and Institute of African Studies is compliant with COVID-19 protocols. Members of the public are not granted access to the campus and its buildings.

Where can I find bios and presentations of the sessions?

The presentations and bios of the speakers will be made available at the conclusion of the festival.

Will the recordings of the sessions be available?

Recordings of all the sessions will be available once the festival has concluded. Please subscribe to our email database to receive communication once recordings are available.

About the Platform

Can I log in to different sessions at the same time with 1 device?

As in physical instance, you are not able to attend more than one session at a time using 1 device.

Do I need data or wifi to watch the sessions on the platform?

You need access to the internet in order to gain access to the festival sessions, using data or wifi.

Can I watch the sessions without data or wifi?

The platform is not data-free. Therefore you will not be able to gain access to the sessions without data or wifi.
