African Cinematic Resistance to Western Hegemony
This session reflected on the lessons and strategies that might inform the next generation of revolutionary African filmmakers. Africa’s independent film industry has overturned colonial and racial capitalist distortion of Africa, Africans, and African relations of gender and sexuality, yet the Western capitalist entertainment industry continues to perpetuate African misrepresentations.
