Queer Feminism in Africa
This session established the place and roles of queer feminist groups and associations in the context of the larger feminism landscape in Ghana. The issues covered included discrimination in all strata, concentrated violence, inability to access safety, healthcare, legal protection, paid employment and the constant anxiety of being situated in an intransigent homophobic climate.
The 3rd Kwame Nkrumah Pan-African Cultural & Intellectual Festival was sponsored by Feminist Africa, Urgent Action Fund, African Women’s Development Fund with support from the Institute of African Studies, University of Ghana.
